Plug in: Stay Connected

If one (Christian or not) is going to spend money to attend an event for entertainment, they should at least love themselves enough to invest well by being “picky” and particular with such event. For entertainment is meant to uplift and restore us while adding to our wellness and growth. Read more here Where Can Christians Go?

Yet of course the choice remains: Yours!

Last night I had the experience of a lifetime and was even more pleased to know it was happening in my little island.- That I didn’t have to travel to experience the atmosphere I witnessed. Totally Awesome!

Kingdom Sounds, a Christian promotion company here in Antigua has been putting on events that are  truly entertaining for Christians and non-Christians alike. However I decided to attend one of these events, Plug In, for the first time and I can truly recommend this event to anyone.
Plug In 2019

The moment I stepped in I was greeted by a very pleasant photographer hoping to help me capture this “Kodak moment.” Then further in to a sunlit garden of daisies, as patrons and decor coordinated with yellow, white and gold (the themed colours). Yellow happens to be my favourite so I may be a bit bias here. Nevertheless the setting was indeed quite cozy and classy. There were tables for those who desired and chairs for others. Food and drinks were on sale in a variety of Caribbean favorites!

There was enough free space for socializing.-Drinks (non-alcoholic) were consumed gracefully and enjoyably rather than thrown in the air despite how powerful the worship was. Patrons had the space to sit, stand or move around freely if they needed to as they enjoyed spiritual food from the entertainers!

Entertainment:
Speaking of entertainers. Antigua is yet to see the raw talent it possesses in Christian entertainment! Romancia Kingston, ‘Roxy’ Brumant, John Mark and others all performed exceptionally well! I was especially impressed when “ROXY” stuck to the theme and remixed the song “I’m no longer a slave” to a soothing jazzy beat! Talented!

Then there was Aziz and Rawle with an eye opening poetic presentation, reminding Christians who we should truly worship (God) and to pay attention to the issues facing the church today!

Then there was violinist Wesley Morris and saxophonist Akeem Burke, joined by a steel pianist, all presenting musical arrangements that even the most ‘uptight’ person would tap their feet. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! They played songs from contemporary to traditional to island, giving patrons the urge to get up off their seats and groove!

The real Cinderella story was the band who played the entire night: Kingsplay! Most times people don’t see it but they truly possess what we call The Power of the Holy Spirit and the anointing of God! These young men played for every artist and executed effortlessly! Spirit filled Endurance!

Lastly, another admirable moment was watching Mr Bless and his wonderful wife, move through the audience so humbly and greeting patrons while they worked tirelessly to put on an excellent event!

All in all if you are looking for a night out  to add to your list or you do not go out as a Christian and would love an event that’s different from the usual concerts, try Plug In! The ambiance is soothing, the entertainment is fulfilling and the presence is simply amazing! I’ll be “staying connected” until next time: Plugged In!

My Life at Day

Many people have a place they go to when they feel down or imprisoned by their circumstances and environment. Some turn to alcohol, weed, ice cream... Not the born again believer though. We are expected to go to God and He gives us insight and inspiration on how to channel our energy and spirit to bear much fruit.

God uses our weaknesses to make His strength perfect in us and turns things around for His glory: He  gives us Beauty for ashes as He turns our brokenness into BEAUTY! Are you willing to let God do that for you?

Here’s an example of one way God did that for me recently. As a teacher I needed a poem for my students’ exam. One that had the specific features I needed to test them on. Additionally our parents are extremely advanced and I didn’t want to use one from a past paper to avoid at least two students having read the same poem. “Lord what should I do?” I asked ‘my go to for everything.’ “Write one!” He replied. It really had been a while since I wrote one so it sure was a great idea. Additionally I could make it to reflect exactly what I wanted.

Ain’t God awesome?

I thought for a moment and then I began...

                                     My Life at Day
My life at Day can be pretty dull
Yet at times full of brawl

For I spend it in a country land
Where there’s no sea or sand

My Life at Day is filled with those
I’d truly wet with a hose

My Life at Day reminds me though
I shouldn’t give an eye for an eye
But sift away the bad bad eggs
Then pin them with a peg

                                   My Life at Day
                            Has taught me very well
For now I know that I must pray
And draw my water from His well

                           Written by Netisha Alie-Grant

I had found a place where I could go when life sends me another challenge and that was in my pen and paper. God has given me my place in Him to come whenever I wanted, then turned my scars into intricate pieces of writing that’d touch many others.

I hope my little poem could help you understand, that when you learn to draw from the divine source your Life at Day will be so much better. For you won’t have to carry the pain and baggage anymore. And when the storms of life comes raging in on your ship, the anchor of God will surely hold and keep you together!

So will you give Him charge of your life at Day? He’s waiting!

The misconception of the Jesus is coming SOON concept
