Snakes in the Work Place!

Written by Netisha Alie

So you go to work to make an honest living and push your limits to be an asset to your organization, however, someone sees the fruits of your labour and instead of being inspired to do the same, they begin to undermine your efforts and make every attempt to bring you down so they can look good. -Snakes on the job, we all got them.

A part of why work can be stressful stems from that person who is busy looking for reasons to get rid of you or make you look bad. Clearly anyone who does that has obvious issues with themselves, not you. So in no way should you waste your time to worry about them. Sure they are like pebbles in your shoes or that nagging tag at the neck of your shirt that just can't seem to stop bothering you. Additionally, they may cost you your job and some serious damage if they get a chance. Thus, how do you deal with someone like that without stooping to their level?

The mere fact that you are able to identify a snake in your work place shows that you are mature enough to be above their level. You have most likely accepted who you are and your talents and how much more beneficial it would be to work together for the benefit of the organization you work for rather than to look for reasons to bring another coworker down, which in turn may affect the entire company.
Hence with that in mind, here are a few tips on dealing with the snake in your work place;
First examine the level of seriousness. How far is your snake willing to go and how dirty do they play?
Once you have analyzed the extent of the situation you can do one of two things; if it is minor, keep an eye on it and feed the snake with a long spoon.
However, if it is major, where your job is at stake its time to fight back. A good christian would go home and place some genuine warfare prayers into the heavens and let God handle it. Truth is God really eventually judge such people and His revenge is far sweeter than yours.

However, if you feel the need to do something else, confronting the snake will wound them a bit but they won't quit just yet. So if it gets to the final straw, you may have to stand up for yourself and set a fire that will surely defeat the snake. Lastly, the final alternative is the good ole 'WALK AWAY' move. Truth be told, some people are just not worth your time and energy and their 'venom' can poison you if you are not careful or strong enough. So if you are able to seek greener pastures, leave the hole for the snake who will eventually bury themselves in it.
